MÜZEYYEN ALPARSLAN; BSc, M.S. Graduate of Çankaya University Department of Industrial Engineering (2002). Received her M.S. degree at METU Department of Industrial Design (2007). Worked as quality engineer for A400M Military and Civil Transport Aircraft lighting systems in SELEX Communications for three years; as airworthiness certification engineer in STM Defence Technologies for C-130 Avionics Modernization Program, T-129 ATAK Helicopter Program, Turkish Basic Trainer Aircraft Program and T-38 Trainer Aircraft Avionics Upgrade Program. Currently is the senior quality engineer in Ministry of National Defence Undersecretariat for Defence Industries (SSM) on behalf of STM Defence Technologies.

MEHMET ADNAN BARLAS; B.CP, M.CP., Ph.D. Completed undergraduate (1982) and graduate (1984) programs at the Department of City and Regional Planning in METU; received his Ph.D. (1994) at the University of Pennsylvania. He is currently lecturing urban design courses and planning studios at METU Faculty of Architecture and is the author of “Urban Streets and Urban Rituals”.

NAZ A.G.Z. BÖREKÇİ; B.I.D., Ph.D. Graduated from METU Department of Industrial Design (1995), and received Ph.D. in Product Design from Kent Institute of Art and Design/University of Kent at Canterbury (2003). Currently is Assistant Professor at METU Department of Industrial Design. Her academic interests include design methods and collaboration with industry in industrial design education.

Namık ERKAL; B.Arch, M.Arch, Ph.D. Assistant Prof. at the Department of Architecture, Middle East Technical University. His research topics are; urban form, architecture of defense, the architectural history of the markets and urban provisioning; specifically the harbors, customhouses and weighing centers of the Ottoman period. Has realized architectural projects specialized in new buildings in historical settings, such as the İstanbul Sakıp Sabancı Museum. ÖNDER ERKARSLAN; B.A., M.A., Ph.D. Associate Professor and chair of the Department of Industrial Design, İzmir Institute of Technology. Research and teaching interests are design semiotics, design communication, design education, QFD applications on industrial products. Has numerous articles in scientific journals and presentations in conferences.

A. DUYGU KAÇAR, B.Arch., M.Arch., Ph.D. Studied architecture at Gazi University (B.Arch., 1999). Received her M. Arch (2002) and Ph.D. (2010) degrees from the Department of Architecture at METU. KEMAL REHA KAVAS; B.Arch., M.Arch., Ph.D. Received his B.Arch and M.Arch degrees from the Department of Architecture at METU (2002, 2005); his Ph.D. in History of Architecture from METU in 2009. Received the 2009 “Thesis of the Year Award” by Prof. Dr. Mustafa N. Parlar Association for Education and Research; the Fatih VeysoÄŸlu Award (2002), and METU graduate course performance awards (2005 and 2008). Currently Assistant Professor of architecture at Akdeniz University, Faculty of Fine Arts in Antalya. Yonca KÖSEBAY ERKAN; B.Arch, MSc. in Restoration, MSc, PhD. Graduated from the Department of Architecture of Yıldız Technical University (1993); completed her Master’s degree at the Restoration Department (1996); was Aga Khan fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she received her MSc degree (1998). Completed her PhD at İstanbul Technical University (2007). Is employed as Assistant Prof. at Kadir has University, İstanbul, Turkey.

Mick O’KELLY; BFA, MFA. Is currently doing a PhD with Interface at the University of Ulster, Northern Ireland. Has studied for his BFA at the National College of Art and Design Dublin (1982-1985) and did his MFA at the California Institute of the Arts USA, (1995-1997). Ongoing concerns in his work and research acknowledge the changing nature of contemporary art, and issues of situated practice, location and context. Yıldıray ÖZBEK; B.A., M.A. Ph.D. Graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Arts and letters, Department of Art History (1988). His MA (1991) and Ph.D. (1999) degrees are from the same department. Employed as research assistant and lecturer at Erciyes University, Kayseri (1992-2009); currently an associate professor at Akdeniz University Faculty of Arts and letters, Department of Art History.

GÜVEN ARİF SARGIN; B.ARCH, M.Sc., PhD. Completed his doctoral studies at UW-Madison in Urban and Environmental History and Theory; teaches on social and political aspects of space as Associate Professor in the Department of Architecture at METU, where he is the Head of the Department of Architecture since 2007. Along with his contribution to architectural design studios, runs graduate studios on urban architecture.

ZEYNEP YASA YAMAN; B.A., M.A. Ph.D. Art Historian; teaches at Hacettepe University, Faculty of Letters, Department of Art History. Worked for the Ministry of Culture, Department of Fine Arts, as the director of Programming and Exhibitions (1978-1990). Contributed the foundation of the Ankara Painting and Sculpture Museum and conceived the International Asian-European Art Festival. The focus of her published articles and research include Modernism/Postmodernism, modern and contemporary art, the modernization process in the Ottoman Empire and Turkey, tradition, culture and artistic policy and women studies. HANDE YILMAZ; BA, M.Sc. Received B.A. in Ceramic and Glass Design at DEU (2003). Is employed for Kaleseramik Çanakkale Kalebodur Seramik Sanayi, Kalevit Roca Saniter Seramik Sanayi, Kaledekor Yapı Malzemeleri Sanayi and Ege Vitrifiye SaÄŸlık Gereçleri Sanayi.
