FİGEN AKPINAR; B.CP., M.S., Ph.D.
Received her B.CP at METU; MS in Rural Planning at the International Centre for Advance Mediterranean Agronomic Studies CIHEAM, the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Zaragoza IAMZ in Spain (1997); extended her training at METU, receiving her Ph.D. (2005). Worked as Urban Planner at the Bank of Provinces (İller Bankası) in Ankara (1986-2007). Currently employed at İzmir Institute of Technology İYTE.

ARYAN AMİRKHANİ; B.Arch., M.Arch.
Received his B.Arch. from Azad University, Tehran (2006-7); M.Arch. from the University of Tarbiat Modares (2008). Has over 50 articles and two books on Iranian and Japanese vernacular and ethics of architecture. Member of the team for urban restoration projects for Tehran Municipality (2008-9), with experience for different consultancy for Iranian engineering companies.

MOJTABA ANSARİ; B.Arch., M.Arch., Ph.D.
Received his B.Arch in Interior Design (1983); M.Arch from the University of Tarbiat Modares (1989); Ph.D in Architecture from the University of Tehran (1999). The previous educational deputy at Tarbiat Modares (1985-9), he is employed as an Associate Professor and is the head of the Faculty of Art and Architecture at Tarbiat Modares University since 2004. A well known Iranian specialist in the field of architectural landscape and Persian gardens, the author of several articles.

ROB ARMSTRONG; D.Tech.
Has handmade nearly 800 instruments over a 40-year career as a professional acoustic guitar maker, from his workshop in Coventry, UK. His varied clientele include Bert Jansch, Gordon Giltrap and the late George Harrison. Has a reputation as a supreme innovator, continually seeking new insights into his craft.

PARHAM BAGHAİE; B.Arch., M.Arch.
Received his B.Arch from the university of Shahid Chamran in Ahvaz (2005); M.Arch. from Tarbiat Modares University (2008). Is the author of several articles and has two books on traditional /vernacular concepts in architecture.

BAYKAN GÜNAY, B.CP., M.CP., Ph.D.
Educated at METU, where he is teaching at present; worked in the private and public sectors as a physical planner and tourism planning expert (1968-1981). Since 1981, is teaching theory and practice of urban physical planning and urban design at the Faculty of Architecture, and since 1996, is monitoring the urban design master program. Has run several urban design projects in urban regeneration, new housing areas and campus design.

ÇAĞRI İMAMOĞLU; B.Arch., M.Arch., Ph.D.
Received his B.Arch and M.Arch degrees from METU, his Ph.D. in architecture from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Employed as Assistant Professor at Bilkent University. His research areas include environmental cognition and evaluation, environments for older adults, and design education.

FERAY MADEN; B. Arch., M. Sc.
Received B. Arch. (2004) and M. Sc. (2008) from the Department of Architecture at the İzmir Institute of Technology İYTE, where she is a Ph.D. student; visiting student in Architecture at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium (2006). Her master thesis research is devoted to Libeskind and contemporary Turkish architects with reference to a deconstructivist approach.

EDDIE NORMAN; M.A., M.Sc., Ph.D., P.G.C.E.
Currently holds the position of Senior Lecturer in the Department of Design and Technology, Loughborough University, UK. His principal research areas are design and technology education, sustainable design education, and interrelations between musical instruments and design. Prior to his academic career he was a research engineer at The Welding Institute.

ÖZGEN OSMAN DEMİRBAŞ, B.F.A., M.F.A., Ph.D.
Received his BFA, MFA and Ph.D. in interior architecture from Bilkent University. Is an instructor at Bilkent University, Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture. Research areas include design learning-teaching, curriculum in design education, assessment techniques in design education, design studio process, learning styles, experiential learning and new technologies in design education.

ŞEBNEM ÖNAL HOŞKARA; B.Arch., Ph.D. in UD
Received B.Arch (1990) at ITU, and Ph.D. (1994) in Urban Design and Urban Conservation at the Department of Architecture and Planning, Institute of Planning Studies, at the University of Nottingham, UK. Has been employed as Associate Professor at EMU since February 2000. Research areas comprise theory of urban design, urban morphology, urban history, conservation and revitalization of historic urban quarters, housing design, architectural and urban design education.

Received B.Arch. (1996) and M.Arch. (1998) from Eastern Mediterranean University/Famagusta, Department of Architecture and Ph.D. degree (2006) in History of Architecture at ITU Faculty of Architecture, Department of Architecture. Currently employed as Senior Instructor at the Department of Interior Architecture, EMU. Research areas include interior ornamentation, history of art and design, antique era palace architecture.

Currently employed as Assistant Professor in the Department of Industrial Design, Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey. His specialties are materials and manufacturing processes, product interactions, non-wood musical instrument design, and the conduct of academic research integrating design practice. Was previously a designer of sports equipment.

MOHAMMAD REZA POURJAFAR; B.Arch., M.U.D., Ph.D.
Received his B.Arch (1983) from C.C.A., India; M.U.D. from S.P.A. India (1986); Ph.D. in Architecture (1992) from I.I.T. U.O.R., India. Gold Medalist of Chandigarh Arch. School (1983); Medalist of Panjab University (1984). Is the designer of Tarbiat Modares central campus and technology park, where he is currently employed as Associate Professor.

DENİZ ŞENGEL; B.A., Ph.D.
Was an Associate Professor in the Department of Architecture, İzmir Institute of Technology İYTE. Received her academic degrees in English and Comparative Literature from Boğaziçi University and New York University, respectively. Her research field comprised the continuity of the classical tradition in art, architecture and literature.

BURCU ŞENYAPILI; B.Arch., M.F.A., Ph.D.
Received B.Arch. (1990) from METU; and her M.F.A. (1993) and Ph.D. (1998) degrees from Bilkent University. Currently works as Assistant Professor at Bilkent University. Areas of interest comprise architectural computing, design and design education, and architectural heritage.

ALİ AKBAR TAGHVAEE; MSc., M.R.P., Ph.D.
Received his M.Sc. in National Development from the university of Shiraz (1971); M.R.P from KSU in the USA (1980); Ph.D in urban and rural developement Planning from the university of Adelaide in Australia(1995). Currently is employed as Assistant Professor and acts as the educational deputy for the Faculty of Art at Tarbiat Modares University.

BANU TEVFİKLER ÇAVUŞOĞLU, B. Int.Arch., M.Int.Arch, Ph.D.
Graduated from Bilkent University, Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (1994), where she also completed her master’s thesis (1996). Received her Ph.D. (2002) at EMU, where she is currently employed as Assistant Professor. Areas of interest include interior space quality, qualitative aspects of lighting design, living style and housing relationship, philosophy and theory of spatial design.

ÖMER İSKENDER TULUK; B.Arch., M.Arch., Ph.D.
Graduated from the Department of Architecture at Karadeniz Technical University KTU (1991), received his Ph.D. (1999) and is employed as an assistant professor in the same university since 2005.
