(USA) Graduated in architecture from University of Jordan (1985) and received his Master’s and Ph.D. degrees at University of Nottingham (1986, 1989). Worked at one of the largest practices of the Nottingham University London office for a year. In 1990, joined the University of Jordan as an Assistant Professor. Currently working as an Associate Professor, Department of Architecture, Universityof Jordan.

MÜGE AKKAR ERCAN; B.CP., M.Sc. in Urban Policy Planning, Ph.D. in Urban Design Is a city planner, who studied at Middle East Technical University (METU), and the University of Newcastle. Works as an assistant professor in the Department of City and Regional Planning, METU. Has articles and papers on the privatisation of public lands and local government finance in Turkey, public spaces in Britain and urban regeneration. Current interests are in public space, urban regeneration and urban design.

ANLI ATAÖV; B.C.P.; M.C.P.; Ph.D. Received her bachelor’s from METU, and her master’s and doctoral degrees from the Ohio State University (OSU). Currently teaches in the Department of City and Regional Planning at METU. Worked as a planner and a researcher in Norway, USA, Denmark, and England since the 1990s. Has been involved in various change projects at the institutional, city and regional levels in public and private sectors and with civil associations in Turkey since 1998. Specialization areas include participatory planning, action research, environmental aesthetics and research methods and techniques.

DAVIDE DERIU, Dott. Arch., M.Sc., Ph.D. Postgraduate research fellow at the Paul Mellon Centre, London. He graduated in architecture from Politecnico di Torino (1995) and received his Master's and Ph.D at University College London (1997, 2004). Between January 2005 and January 2007 he was a visiting assistant professor at METU, Department of Architecture. He has published several essays on modern architecture, urbanism, and visual cultures.

FATMA İPEK EK; B.Arch., M.Sc. Graduated in 2003 from the Department of Architecture at the İzmir Institute of Technology, still continuing doctoral studies as research assistant in the same Department. Is currently working on a book on ‘Piranesi as the inventor of modern architectural archaeology’ and preparing a critique of architectural studies of orientalism today.

BAYKAN GÜNAY, B.CP., M.CP., Ph.D. Completed undergraduate (1968), graduate (1971), and Ph.D. programs (1995) at the Department of City and Regional Planning of METU, where he is teaching at present. From 1968 to 1981, he worked in the private and public sectors as a physical planner and tourism planning expert. Since 1981, is teaching theory and practice of urban physical planning and urban design at the Faculty of Architecture, and since 1996, is monitoring the urban design master program. Main publications include, History of CIAM and Team X, Urban Design is a Public Policy, Property Relations and Urban Space, Skyframe (Gökkafes) in İstanbul: An Ontological Assessment, Türkiye Mimarlığı - Gelenek, Yöre, DoÄŸu, Batı. Has run several urban design projects in urban regeneration, new housing areas and campus design.

NEÅžE GÜRALLAR YEŞİLKAYA; B.Arch.; M.Arch.; Ph.D. Received diploma in 1991 and worked as an architect from 1991 to 1995. Received her Master of Architecture degree in 1997 from Gazi University and her Ph.D. from Middle East Technical University in 2003. In addition to articles in journals and chapters in edited books, is the author of the book Halkevleri: İdeoloji ve Mimarlık [The People’s Houses: Ideology and Architecture].
