Received B.Arch and M.Arch. integrated degree from Architecture from Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts (1981). Earned her PhD from Architectural Design from Istanbul Technical University (1995). Guest Scholar in PGRS- Oxford Polytechnic, UK (1989–1992) and in DIAP- Milan Polytechnic, Italy (2010). Received Associate Professorship from the Higher Education Council from Turkey, 2015. Major research interests: housing research: informal and social housing, urban transformation in the developing world, community architecture, place/ placelessness issues, studio education.
