Murat BALAMİR

Murat Balamir has degrees in Architecture (METU; Arch. Assoc., London), Town Planning (UC, University of London), and Political Science and Public Administration (Ankara University). Has been the editor of the bilingual and internationally indexed ‘Journal of the Faculty of Architecture’ (JFA), and acted as Vice Dean to the Faculty of Architecture at METU for 12 years. Has been a member in the National Earthquake Council of Turkey (2002-2009). Has been coordinating a thematic group entitled ‘Resilience and Risk Mitigation Strategies’ within the main body of Association of European Schools of Planning (AESOP). Elected (Sept. 2011-) as the coordinator of the ‘Disasters and Social Crises Research Network’ of the European Sociological Association (DSCRN, ESA). His publications relate to the topics of housing, planning, disasters and risk management and mitigation planning.
