Received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in city planning from Middle East Technical University, Faculty of Architecture in 1995 and 1998 respectively. Earned his PhD degree in civil engineering systems (transportation behaviour and planning) from Kyoto University, Graduate School of Engineering in 2003.
