Received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Washington University (1972). Earned his MSc. in Urban Planning from University of Washington (1983) and PhD degree in Urban Design and Planning from University of Washington (1991). Major research interests include open space, land use and morphology, watersheds, networks and human, ecological health, GeoDesign, and GIS.
